In 2007 I had moved to Australia from South Africa. I was a stay at home mother for 5 years. My son started prep this year. I remember coming home to an empty house after dropping him off at school on his first day. I must admit I felt lost; all this time on my hands what am I going to do with myself! This was my time to re-discover my passion and purpose outside of my family structure. Truth be told I didn’t know where to start. I researched life coaches and found a brilliant coach named Wyomie. I remember our first meeting via telephone and I was unsure as to how she could help me. She exceeded my expectations.
After a few sessions she provided me with clarity, an objective point of view and pointed out helpful strategies that propelled me into the next phase of my life. I realized in this process that fear holds us back from living our best life with confidence. I understood that we underestimate our worth and find excuses by creating limiting beliefs.
My first step was to get out of my comfort zone and push myself into the unknown with my passion and purpose in mind. I love inspiring women, working in radio, television and writing. I knew my “anchor” was my burning desire for creating meaningful content and inspiring women. I didn’t know how and which projects was on my path or journey but I knew as long as I followed my “authentic” light I would be fine.
My strategy; mapping out what I needed in order to achieve my goals. I set up my magazine Women Get Inspired, as I enjoy writing and interviewing women. I then applied for a position at a local community radio station, for their award winning women’s interest radio show. They asked me to come onboard as the resident newsreader and host. I then had an idea for a women’s interest tv show, pitched my idea to a community TV station and my idea was turned into a TV show being launched in 2014 where I will be co-hosting the show as well as the role of the co-executive producer.
My life coach has provided me with a sense of clarity when I sometimes felt unsure, lost and alone in my quest to connect with my career goals. I will continue to use a career coach. Just like an athlete training everyday with their coach to achieve their goals and win the race. I feel like a good career coach can help you achieve greatness and clarity when you can’t see through the muddy waters.
