Public speaking is one of the biggest fears, I can understand why! As my podcast guest Sally Prosser reminded us on my last podcast episode is that there is a reason you have been asked to speak. You have something valuable to say, you have something that people want to hear. So often we decline life changing speaking opportunities because we are scared and fearful, not so much for ourselves but what others are going to think of us. When I feel fear I try my best to do what scares me the most so I can learn and grow from this experience. When you are asked to speak, say yes and figure it out later, put your hat in the ring. Life is made up of moments, we can either live in fear or we can thrive in living, learning and embracing every moment and opportunity.
My advice for you today is if you have been asked to speak and share your knowledge and wisdom, say YES! Let go of your fear, let go of overthinking the opportunity and let go what you think others might think of you. We tend to think of the entire negative and worst case scenarios first before we think about the positive. We miss precious opportunities and milestones if we give our fear the airtime it doesn’t deserve. Go forth and speak! Your voice matters!
