I was inspired to write my article based on my own definition of what I think beauty is for me. As I browse through content, online and offline it’s so easy to think that beauty looks the same all round. Some days I feel as though the definition of beauty is more so focused on the superficial than real and natural. When we see real beauty, real expression, lines, contours and curves, we think that something needs to be fixed. As mentioned this article is my personal definition of what beauty means to me.
We compare our features more so than ever to an array of social media pictures highlighting that the external superficial is the ultimate goal to feeling good about ourselves. Most importantly that our self-worth comes from the external validation. We have lost our ability to see what’s real and what’s not. When we become aware, awake and intune with who we truly are within, we become more powerful, more connected and limitless. Our decisions then become based on what we want for ourselves, not what is happening on the outside and how we should look in order to feel beautiful. I check in with myself daily and notice how I feel when leaving social media spaces and otherwise. I believe that true beauty comes in different shapes, sizes, cultures and features. Our expression, our ability to tell our story through the power of harnessing who we truly are and to shine our unique talents like no other is a conscious choice. My personal definition of beauty is the ability to have confidence knowing who you are in this world that so often sell us a very superficial definition of what’s real.
Listen to your inner compass and be courageous enough to decide for yourself what makes you feel beautiful, what makes you feel good and how you define beauty. Become the captain of your own ship. Become a decision maker, making your own decisions that work for you and your life. Live your most beautiful life being you and nobody else.
