I had the honour of co-hosting a Christmas Party function last night at Milton State School. Before getting on stage to MC the event I was watching a little girl in a red dress dance and she owned it. The stage was empty and the DJ was playing Christmas carols. Whilst chatting to my friends in the corner of my eye I see a gorgeous girl in a red dress walk on stage and she started dancing like no one was watching. She moved to the sound of the music and looked as though she was fully immerged in the moment. I was watching her dance and next thing the little girls and boys watching her have fun joined her on stage.
This beautiful little soul in her red dress inspired others to let go of feeling afraid to get up and dance, she was a leader. I was inspired by her freedom to follow her heart, get up on an empty stage and dance not giving a thought to who was watching her. As long as she was happy, having fun and inflow with her rhythm she was living her passion.
So often we stand and watch our lives pass us by, so afraid to make the first move, afraid of what others might say and think. When we think about the missed opportunities we lose as a result of thinking about what others think we lose our freedom to live our lives out loud and to the fullest. Let’s dance like the little girl in the red dress, take the opportunity to become a leader making and taking that first step. Let’s create our stage and dance like nobody is watching.
