Today I was so excited to bake a Lasagne for my family. I am not going to sugar coat the fact that I am a disaster in the kitchen (I have the cooking scares to prove it). I know many find the kitchen to be a wonderful experience but for me it is simply not the case. I attempted to bake a lasagne for dinner this evening. Whilst placing the Lasagne bake in the oven I realised that I made my white sauce just using flour, water, cheese, salt and pepper (my fault for thinking I could remember how my mum made her famous Lasagne, should have just asked for her delicious recipe). How did I forget the milk!!! Let me tell you, the white sauce was like super glue my son could use for his school projects. I felt crappy as I messed up our dinner. Luckily we had frozen slow cooked meals in the freezer that my husband cooked for us.
I do miss my mum and late grandma’s cooking and baking. I love the simply practical old-fashioned cooking and baking recipes. Nothing fancy or gourmet just meals made with love from the heart.
Having had an endless track record of bad cooking disasters and failures. I will continue to try and master my cooking and baking attempts. Wish me luck!
